In many cases, you can simply drag and drop the overlay on top of your source footage, set the blending mode to Screen or Add, and it will look great.

Because our free overlays are ultra-high-resolution video files, that means that you can extract many images per video clip; each still frame image can be used, transformed, or even animated in a variety of ways.
Imagine that you want to add a light leak or lens flare to a photo. If you download a single photo or still frame from an alternate source, that will be all that you have to work with, but with our lens flare overlays, you get hundreds of images per video clip. Tips and Tricks
Layers are Key
Often times a single overlay will provide a huge impact to a shot, but if you layer multiple video overlays in your timeline, you can really create something incredible. A layered sequence will have much more depth and complexity and produce a richer scene for the viewer.
Transparency
Many of our overlays are provided with an alpha channel which means that you can simply drag and drop the footage into your NLE or compositing software. However, some footage is provided over a black background. In these cases, you’ll want to use the screen blending mode to remove the black.
