What is a video overlay?
Video overlays are specialized video content that is added over your original (background) video. Via the use of an alpha channel that provides transparency or a solid color background (usually black), these overlays are not meant to fully obscure the original video but rather to provide an effect on top. For example, adding an overlay of falling snow to a scene.

PROFESSIONAL GRADE FOOTAGE
We only use the best compression and file formats. You won’t find H264 or HEVC file codecs here, only professional-grade codecs and file formats.
4K PRORES
All of our footage is offered in 4k ProRes Quicktime format. Clips that contain an alpha channel are delivered in ProRes 4444 codec, while all others are offered in ProRes 422 HQ.
4K EXR
We also offer video overlays in 4k EXR (OpenEXR) format. This option allows for a higher dynamic range than even ProRes. However, keep in mind that these files might not be compatible with all NLEs and might require compositing software such as Fusion, Nuke, or Adobe After Effects.
RAW R3DS UP TO 8K
Because quality matters, we offer an R3D option for each overlay that was filmed practically. All of our most recent footage was filmed in either 4k or 8k resolution. (This means that our footage labeled as CG won’t have an R3D option because it was created via software and not captured with a camera.)
