First up is DaVinci Resolve and Fusion, which is a comprehensive video editing, color grading, and VFX suite of applications. A few years ago, these applications would have cost thousands of dollars, but they are now all available for free. It includes a huge range of features and effects, and it’s also constantly being updated with new features.
If you’ve used The Foundry’s Nuke, then you’ll love Natron as a free, open-source alternative. It even supports OFX plugins, so many of the plugins that work with Nuke will work with Natron as well.
HitFilm Express is another powerful video editing program with a focus on visual effects. This software is packed with features and has everything you need to create professional-looking video effects. It’s also very user-friendly, so even if you’re new to video editing, you should be able to figure it out pretty quickly.
